The origin of suspended meals can be traced back to a coffee shop in Naples,  Italy. It was initially called suspended coffee, and the target customers were mainly working-class people. If someone had extra cash on hand, they would pay for the price of two cups of coffee for only one. Later on, if someone in need visited the coffee shop, they could request and receive a free cup of coffee with the already-paid cup. As time passed, the concept of suspended meals gradually spread worldwide, and the range of items offered was no longer limited to beverages
